Hi .. and Welcome to WYTS!
My name is Elizabeth King and I am the leader of the newly established Youth Theatre Group in Walkley, Sheffield.

Walkley Youth Theatre, Sheffield (WYTS) is a weekly two hour Youth Theatre that meets every Wednesday at Walkley Community Hall for the FUN of exploring, developing and perfecting drama through workshops leading to performances.

Background
My Drama and Theatre experience dates back to my days of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain in London between 1988 and 1992.
​
Alongside me as NYT members were - Catherine Tate, David Walliams, Jessica Hynes and news presenter Krishnan Guru Murthy.
In 1988 I played the Wife opposite Daniel Craig in a production of Lorca's Blood Wedding. I was directed by Lionel Bart as Maggie for the NYT production of Maggie May in 1992.
My professional actor training was at The Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in 1999 and I attained my secondary drama QTS at Goldsmith's College, University of London in 2005. In 2011 I graduated from the University of Sheffield with an MA in Contemporary Theatre Performance Studies.

Between 2007 and 2022 I lived and worked abroad teaching in Portugal, Hong Kong, Russia and the Czech Republic. I taught the International Baccalaureate Theatre Arts Diploma and have been Artistic Director, designer and choreographer on a multitude of large scale upper school theatre productions.

What time ?
WYTS will begin in September 2023. It will start at 16:45 and end at 18:45. WYTS will then continue to run every Wednesday thereafter.
The exact start date will be confirmed very soon. To stay informed and secure a place for your first taster session you need to submit the Get in Touch Form.

Cost per member for each weekly session ?
£15.00 and your first 'TASTER' session is FREE
